City-wide Debris Pickup Begins January 4th

Published: Tuesday, December 29, 2020

There will be two rounds of tree debris pick up and the first will begin on Monday, January 4th. Crews will begin at the north city limits and work their way south. Once they have completed the entire city, they will begin the second round moving from north to south.

Pick up is available to residential homes but does not include businesses and apartment complexes.

Tree debris must be cut into no more than six (6) to ten (10) foot sections and must be placed within ten (10) feet behind the curb of the residence. Residents are asked to avoid piling debris on or near water meters, gas meters, electric facilities, mailboxes, fire hydrants or irrigation systems.

With a large amount of tree debris in the city, these pickups will take place over several weeks. WE ASK FOR EVERYONE’S PATIENCE DURING THIS LENGTHY PROCESS.

For residents that would like to dispose of debris sooner, there is a free drop off at 16th and Portland from 8am to 5pm. The disposal site will be closed to public drop off beginning December 31st.

This drop off is only available for residential customers who receive City of Newcastle waste services. A copy of a current City of Newcastle utility bill and a driver’s license will be required to prove residency.
