Five member committee, minimum
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- To hear and decide appeals when it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the City Clerk, Building Inspector or other administrative official;
- To hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of the zoning or other ordinances upon which the Board of Adjustment is required to pass; and
- To authorize appeal in specific cases, variances from the terms of the ordinances as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special conditions a literal enforcement of the provisions of the ordinance will result in unnecessary hardship, so that the spirit of the ordinances will be observed and substantial justice done ('86 Code, § 1-41, § 37.03 Zoning Board of Adjustment)
- To review pre-application plans, to study the suitability of any proposed subdivision for the purposes for which it is intended (Subdivision '86 Code, § 1-42, § 37.04 Subdivision Review Committee)
- Review and make recommendations on all permits;
- Review and make recommendations on all plats and easements submitted to the city for acceptance; and
- Review and make recommendations concerning all rezoning or annexation requests (Ord. 342, passed 8-14-95, § Department of Community Development)
