Legal Department

The City Attorney is head of the Legal Department of the City of Newcastle.

The City Attorney advises the City Council and all City officials in the performance of their duties. The City Attorney represents the City in litigation in which the City of Newcastle is a party, and prepares and/or reviews all resolutions, ordinances, and other business of the City Council.

The City Attorney also serves as prosecutor for all cases in the City of Newcastle Municipal Court.
