Mayor amends COVID-19 emergency proclamation

This proclamation covers many changes to existing COVID-19 measures.

In response to rapidly changing circumstances surrounding the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), today Mayor Karl Nail amended the City's emergency proclamation to enhance public safety and health for all Newcastle residents. The primary change among others to the declaration is a "Shelter in Place" order, allowing exceptions for essential activities -- the exact text follows, see the attached PDF for full and complete details of the amended order.

THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE IS ISSUING A “SHELTER IN PLACE” ORDER FOR ALL RESIDENTS IN THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE.

All residents living in or visiting the City of Newcastle are ordered to shelter at their place of residence. “Residence” includes homes, apartments, condominiums, hotels, motels, shared rentals, and similar facilities and accommodations. Persons may leave their residences only for Essential Activities as defined below, or to operate or perform at essential businesses granted by or future modified State of Oklahoma Seventh Amended Executive Order 2020-007.

“Essential Activities” shall include:

• Errands to maintain their health and safety, or to the health and safety of their family, household members, or pets.
• Obtaining necessary services or supplies for themselves or their family, pets or household members, such as food and supplies necessary for staying at home.
• Engaging in outdoor activity, such as walking, hiking, or running, provided they maintain at least six (6) feet of social distancing.
• Caring for or transporting a family member or pet in another household.
• Donating blood at authorized facilities.
• To move to another residence either in or outside the limits of the City of Newcastle
