The City Council of Newcastle, Oklahoma, has given the green light to the Newcastle Sports Complex Master Plan, a significant renovation and expansion project set to transform the Newcastle All Sports Association’s sports complex into a state-of-the-art facility.

"This project is a game-changer for our community," said City Manger Kevin Self. "We're not just improving our sports facilities, we're creating a space that will bring our community together and foster a love for sports among our youth."

The master plan will expand the complex to include 11 fields dedicated to softball, baseball, and other sports. This expansion will significantly increase the opportunities for youth and adults alike to participate in baseball and softball events, and other sporting activities.

In addition to the new fields, the plan includes the addition of a park-style recreation area, a walking path, individual restrooms, and safe parking areas. The design ensures that the complex can be used throughout the year, providing a valuable resource for the community.

"The Newcastle Sports Complex is about more than just sports; it's about promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering community spirit, and enhancing the quality of life in Newcastle," added Self.

The renovation will also focus on enhancing the softball field’s accessibility, aligning with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This includes the development of pathways and parking facilities designed to accommodate all visitors.

One of the interesting features of this project is a retention pond which will provide an opportunity for innovative landscaping and unique site design.

The City Council's approval of the master plan also allows the city to request grant funding to continue to improve the site, ensuring the creation of a state-of-the-art facility for the community.
