Stay Informed and Stay Safe: Sign Up for Newcastle’s CivicPlus Mass Notification System

Published: Thursday, April 17, 2025

As Oklahoma enters its peak severe weather season, the City of Newcastle urges all residents to enroll in the CivicPlus Mass Notification System (formerly CivicReady). This vital tool ensures timely alerts during emergencies, including tornadoes, severe storms, and other critical events.

“April and May are historically the most active months for tornadoes in our region,” said Donnie Sullins, Newcastle’s Emergency Management Director. “Recent events have underscored the importance of rapid, reliable communication. Our mass notification system is designed to keep residents informed and safe.”

Key Features of the CivicPlus Mass Notification System:

  • Multi-Channel Alerts: Receive notifications via text, email, voice calls, and the CivicPlus mobile app.
  • Geo-Targeted Messaging: Alerts are tailored to specific areas, ensuring relevant information reaches those affected.
  • Multilingual Support: Messages are automatically translated into over 60 languages, catering to our diverse community.
  • Integration with National Systems: Connected to FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) for broader reach.
  • Two-Way Communication: Residents can provide feedback or request assistance directly through the system.

Enrollment is quick and free. Visit newcastleok.gov/services/public-safety/emergency-management/civicready to sign up. By registering, you ensure that you and your family receive critical information when it matters most.

“Preparedness saves lives,” added Sullins. “We encourage every resident to take this simple step toward safety.”
