City of Newcastle to Honor Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

The City of Newcastle invites the community to gather in solemn remembrance of those who have sacrificed their lives in service to the United States. A Memorial Day ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 12:00 PM at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens, located at 2345 South Main Street, Newcastle, OK 73065. The event is organized by the Local VFW and American Legion.
Program Details:
The ceremony will begin with a prayer led by Councilman Gene Reid, followed by the Presentation of Colors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Shiloh Christian Academy will perform the National Anthem and "God Bless America," setting a respectful and patriotic tone for the event.
Vice-Mayor Mike Fullerton will offer opening remarks, reflecting on the significance of the day. He, along with Reid, will then lead the segment titled "Remembering the Fallen," honoring those who gave their lives in defense of freedom and country.
The Newcastle Fire Department will ceremoniously lower the flags, and the Veterans Honor Guard will present a wreath in memory of the fallen heroes. The honor guard will then conduct a rifle salute, followed by the solemn playing of "Taps," a tribute to the departed.
The ceremony will conclude with closing remarks from Councilman Reid, offering words of reflection and gratitude.
