As we approach the Fourth of July, the City of Newcastle wants to remind residents and visitors about the local regulations and safety tips for fireworks:

Key Regulations:

  • Permitted Discharge Dates: June 29th to July 6th, 8am-10pm; July 4th, 8am-midnight.
  • Prohibited Areas: No discharge on public streets, rights-of-way, easements, or city-owned property.
  • Private Property Use: Only allowed if the owner or tenant is present, or with written permission.

Firework Safety Tips:

  • Always have water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
  • Maintain a safe distance from others when lighting fireworks.
  • Supervise children closely around fireworks.
  • Never attempt to relight malfunctioning fireworks.
  • Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water before discarding.
