"Too Toxic to Trash" Household Waste Cleanup Event

NEWCASTLE, OK - May 8, 2023 - The City of Newcastle is proud to announce the "Too Toxic to Trash" Household Waste Cleanup Event, a community initiative dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener, and safer environment for residents. The event will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 8 am to Noon at the Chickasaw Training Center, located at 400 NW 32nd St, Newcastle, OK 73065.

"Too Toxic to Trash" offers a unique opportunity for Newcastle residents to dispose of hazardous waste, tires, and expired or unused medications responsibly, ensuring the protection of our environment and preventing potential harm to public health.

Accepted items for the event include:

  • Household Hazardous Waste (oil-based paint, pesticides, herbicides, fuels, oils, cleaning supplies, and sharps)
  • Tires (car, truck, motorcycle, and ag tires under 72 inches - no rims allowed)
  • Expired & Unused Medications (narcotic and non-narcotic medications, excluding liquids, inhalers, and medical marijuana products)

Participation requirements are as follows:

  • Proof of residency (utility bill)
  • Remain in your vehicle while volunteers unload items
  • Household Hazardous Waste/Commodity Volumes ONLY
  • No commercial waste allowed
  • The event may close early if collection quota is reached

As an added benefit, the PIKEPASS Mobile Store will be on-site to open new accounts and service existing ones. With a PIKEPASS installed, drivers can enjoy the convenience of hassle-free travel on Oklahoma Turnpikes without having to stop at toll booths.
